My Strawberry patch has really been coming into its own! It is its second year of growing and the strawbs are thriving. There are some rodents who like them too… but I’m getting quite a few! #permaculture #growyourown #gardening #lifedesign #living #strawberries #pancakes

Observation. The strawberries grown from a fellow neighbours’ runners vs a plant from @bunnings . The runners (originally from a neighbour) were taken from my already crazy overgrown strawberry patch and distributed to pots and friends. This variety grows big juicy fruits that are super sweet. The Bunnings one grows little kinda sour fruits. They are obviously different varieties but it is interesting to note that the plants I got for free are doing much better than the plant that was bought. Check my stories for a tour of my strawberry patch. I’ve also noticed lots of lemon balm seedlings growing in this pot, so have my eye on them for transplanting into different areas of the garden that need some ground cover and pest repellent. This week I’m spending in my garden and starting a permaculture course with @milkwood_permaculture - it’s very inspiring to connect with lots of other people concerned about designing their life for more ‘one planet living’ approaches. @moraggamble uses this term a lot and I find it useful. #permaculture #observation #strawberries #oneplanetliving #gardening #design #australia

Nick and I have been having a whale of a time crea

Nick and I have been having a whale of a time creating fun music with the tutor family at @stringmaniacamp - if you know me, you have heard me rave about how this camp changed my life…. And I’m so glad we can still come together online for some good times!

If you need something inspiring over the next few days, book in! Any age, any instrument, any level. We start tomorrow afternoon :)

In other news I’ve just signed up to @milkwood_permaculture course and it’s given me some new energy and inspiration to know I’ll be furthering my permaculture journey. It’s been easy to feel alone the last year and a half trying to do my best in the garden and connect with community in the music and gardening world when most of the time we can’t be in the same room. Online isn’t the same - but it’s what we have right now and I’m trying to make the best of it.

Today we de nailed, sawed and measured a whole lotta wood that was destined for a skip after our neighbours renos. Now we know what we have to work with for building our Chicken pen… and for use inside the control room build for @peppermintgrovestudios 😍 Trying to re use and upcycle also helps when you are on the low income earner side of things. Saving a few hundred bucks by using left overs from other people’s renovations is a pretty good way of budgeting and reducing landfill!
